Q: Where is the furniture at Scanhome made?

A: Scanhome carries a blended mix of home furnishings from the United States as well as around the world. We attempt to find the best quality and innovative designs here in America with vendors like American Leather and Lazar Industries. We are European based in concept with vendors like Ekornes of Norway and Skovby of Denmark.

Q: How long will it take to get my "Special Order" furniture?

A: Because we deal with vendors from all over the world, each vendor is different. Generally, a custom item could take as little as 2 weeks or as long as 12-14 weeks if it is coming from Norway or Denmark.

Q: How do I care for my fine leather furniture?

A: For leather furniture we recommend regular dusting and vacuum cleaning in crevices.

For Minor Spots and Spills: Wipe any excess liquid up immediately with a clean absorbent cloth or sponge. If necessary, use a lightly moistened soft white cloth with distilled water and let air dry naturally. Do not dry with hair dryers, etc.

For Stubborn Stains: Moisten a soft white cloth with distilled water. Apply gently to all soiled portions of the leather surface. Remove water by wiping with a clean damp cloth. Blot dry with another clean soft cloth, then let air dry naturally. If the stain persists, it is recommended that the leateher be cleaned by a professional leather specialist to avoid any potential damage.

For Butter, Oil or Grease: Blot excess butter, oil, or grease off the leather with a clean dry cloth. Then leave it alone. The spot should dissipate into the leather after a short period of time. Do not apply water.

DO NOT USE: saddle soap, cleaning solvents, furniture polish, oils, varnish, abrasive cleaners, detergent soaps or ammonia water.

Note: These are recommended or suggested methods of cleaning. Always try any cleaning method in a hidden area first to test the results.

Q: How do I care for my new upholstered furniture & what do the cleaning codes mean?

A: For upholstered furniture, always follow the recommended cleaning code for your fabric. To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended.

"W": Spot clean with the foam only of a water-based cleaning agent or non-solvent upholstery shampoo product to remove overall soil. Apply foam with a soft brush in a circular motion. Many household cleaning solvents are harmful to the color and life of the fabric. Pretest a small area before proceeding.

"S": Spot clean using a mild water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. Clean only in a well-ventilated room and avoid any products containing Carbon Tetrachloride or other toxic materials. Pretest small area before proceeding.

"W-S": Spot clean with a mild solvent, an upholstery shampoo or the foam from a mild detergent. When using a solvent or dry cleaning product, follow instructions carefully and clean only in a well-ventilated room. Avoid any product that contains Carbon Tetrachloride or other toxic materials. Pretest a small area before proceeding.

"X": Dry cleaning by a qualified professional cleaning service only.
